The following rant may contain spoilers about one or more episodes, so if you haven’t watched it/them yet, stop reading.
Season 4 of the critically acclaimed AMC series The Walking Dead has it’s fair share of “holy crap” moments. The illness that nearly wiped out the prison, the Governor possibly becoming a good guy only to show his true colors, the prison being destroyed and overrun, the beheading of Herschel, Beth going missing, Carol returning and revealing to Tyreese that she killed Karen, Glenn reuniting with Maggie, and so many others.
Now, there were two moments in particular that are worth special mention. The first is when Lizzie kills Mika to prove to Carol and Tyreese that she will come back and everything will be fine. Holy… shit… That was a scene that I supremely doubt ANYONE saw coming, and collectively shocked and surprised damn near every viewer out there. Wow. All I know is I’m glad she didn’t have time to do the same to Judith. Just wow. The second moment really worth noting was in the season finale that was on last night, 3/30/14, when Rick took a chunk out of Joe’s neck ( Jeff Kober ). That was a big time “holy crap” moment as well. As a parent, I was rooting for Rick (Andrew Lincoln ) every tooth biting tear of the way.
Last week when the first group from the Prison arrived to Terminus, I told everyone I was watching with that I had a feeling Terminus was a group of cannibals namely because of the lady grilling yet there were no livestock of any kind around. Then in the season finale, the Terminus residents, albeit seeming VERY nice and friendly, obviously were wrangling the 4 survivors through the maze that is Terminus, ultimately leading them by force into the train car. If you notice in the episode, there is an area they run past that is full of what looks like freshly killed meat and bones, it’s relatively impossible to tell what kind of animal (or person) they came from, but I think they’re cannibals.
The season finale, for me, was terribly disappointing. Namely because of the flash backs to when life had just gotten started at the Prison. I didn’t see any point in this other than to just fill time. It was almost a sad reminder of how good things had begun to get, but nope, it sucks really hard now, have fun! And what I hated the most about the finale was the very end when Rick is looking out the gap in the train car door, and all dramatically says “they don’t know who they’re screwin with”. REALLY??!!? That’s how the season is ending, on a SUPER corny note!??! Ugh. I really hope that Robert Kirkman was vehemently against this writing decision and was just out numbered or something.
I very much look forward to Season 5 and a victorious recovery after what was a kind of terrible ending of Season 4.
What was your favorite/most shocking moment of Season 4?
