Farmers Markets, oh how I enjoy going to a farmers market. Approaching the average farmers market is always wonderful because you can smell all the fresh produce, some of which still has that slight aroma of mud and dirt on it. The tables of fresh cut flowers, fresh honey sticks, creamy butters, dried meats, hand creams and soaps, all the endless and wonderful things that make a farmers market, a farmers market.
The below infographic comes from the Farmers Market Coalition, a national organization that strengthens farming communities, raises awareness and just generally does their part to ensure that Farmers markets can prosper and strive. Seeing as I am Minnesotan, I’m clearly a little biased, so accordingly here is the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association. Additional resources you may find useful include the USDA Farmers Markets Directory, Local Harvest, and the Eat Well Guide.
Needless to say, Farmers Markets are a wonderful thing that allows you to support local, eat fresh, network and gain some much needed social interactions! If you have some links or resources you’d like to share, please feel free to share them here.
